PHASE ZERO
PRE-FUNDING: TAKING INVENTORY & ACCOUNTING
Phase 0 is where you bring together the elements of what you currently have in your hands. You get to understand all of the things you need to focus on, plus how to calculate what you already have.
In Phase Zero, you’re going to learn:
- MODULE 1: PRE-FUNDING FOCUS. These are the critical things your organization needs to make decisions on, as it drives how you will look to secure each funding stream and align with your mission and vision.
- MODULE 2: TAKING INVENTORY OF WHAT YOU HAVE. Your first order of business is to know what your worth is. We do this by taking inventory.
- MODULE 3: A PLACE FOR YOUR FUNDING TO GO. Your key to success for your organization is making sure your accounting structure is ready to receive and account for other people's money.
PHASE ONE
BECOMING FUNDABLE
Your Organization is now ready to Become Fundable. Your Next Funding Stream will be to interject IN-KIND DONATIONS into your bottom line Including goods, professional services, volunteers & space.
In Phase one, you’re going to learn:
- MODULE 4: FUNDABLE PRACTICES. You have found out a lot of the missing pieces you need to act like a corporation. In this module you are going to fix, replace, and put into practice the things that are missing.
- MODULE 5: FUNDING STREAM 1 ( IN-KIND DONATIONS). With your pre-work and education plan done, you are ready to start bringing in your 1st funding stream.
- MODULE 6: SOLICITING IN KIND DONATIONS. Donations of goods and services can be extremely valuable to nonprofit organizations.
- MODULE 7: DOCUMENTING IN-KIND DONATIONS. Documenting In-Kind Donations for Yourself, Your Donors and The IRS
- MODULE 8: ACCOUNTING FOR IN-KIND DONATIONS. You must keep in-kind donations in your budget. Here you will learn how to do this process in your accounting system.
- MODULE 9: SETTING UP AN IN-KIND DONATION PROGRAM. Learn how to operate a program strictly from in-kind donations. Every nonprofit should have one of these in place.
PHASE TWO
BECOMING FUND READY
You are now ready to set up a program using funding from RECURRING DONORS, these are the individuals who will add value to your organization on a monthly basis, and help you grow your programs.
In Phase 2, you’re going to learn:
- MODULE 10: PROGRAM CAUSE. Let's dive into the logistics of setting up your community program. The Vision, The Value, The Validation Instead of spreading your attention and resources thin over multiple methods of service delivery, you want to focus on only one to two very specific issues you can tackle, fill a gap and where you can get the most leverage.
- MODULE 11: PROGRAM CAPACITY. The Structure, The Solution, The Service. Being able to accurately depict how you will solve a problem, for people in need that are waiting on you to deliver a promise is an amazing opportunity for your organization to shine. Making a feasible plan to deliver upon for fixing things that are broken, is and should be the heart of every successful nonprofit.
- MODULE 12: FUNDING STREAM 2: COMMUNITY DONORS ( PROGRAM COMMUNITY). It's time to implement the second funding stream of Recurring Donors that will help better position your organization for bringing in grant funding. The Process, The Management, The Impact. How to confidently build a program your community truly needs.
PHASE THREE
GETTING FUNDED
Your organization is now ready to successfully add additional stacks of GRANT FUNDING into your organization's program efforts & continue to expand your efforts. We are going to set the stage for you to get the funding you need for your organization's programs. During this Phase, you are going to work on finding the right funders, the right purpose, and the cause that you need support.
In Phase 3, you’re going to learn:
- MODULE 13: FINDING (PRE-AWARD PHASE). Funding Opportunities and Application Review. When it's time to properly seek grant funding, you need to know exactly how to search and what to do in what order, based on your degree of grant readiness. You will perform a GRANT READY ASSESSMENT| You will learn THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING| THE PROBLEM YOU SEEK TO FIX| THE PLAN FOR FUNDING
- MODULE 14: FIXING THE NEEDS (THE AWARD PHASE) Award Decisions and Notifications. Specific information must go into a grant proposal in order for it to be considered for funding. You will learn our 8 pronged approach for creating a fundable grant proposal. Including specifics about the PEOPLE you will serve, the PROCESS to provide them with your services and the PROJECT.
- MODULE 15: FUNDING STREAM 3 GRANT FUNDING (POST AWARD PHASE). The real work begins AFTER you are awarded the grant proposal. Learn all of the moving pieces and elements that you need to learn and have in place to be fully functional to stay compliant and to use grant funds effectively. Including tracking and reporting, accounting and documentation.
PHASE FOUR
FUND YOUR VISION (YOUR MAJOR)
You are ready to fund your major with additional DIVERSIFIED FUNDING STREAMS like gala's, fundraisers, lines of credit, corporate credit, program fees and sales, to bring your major vision to life.
In Phase 4, you’re going to learn:

- MODULE 19: The Process of Your Vision. It's time to level up your website, expand your accounting practices and other business systems.

In 2008 our tiny storefront outreach church set out to make a tremendous impact in the second poorest community in America. We had only 20 members, almost half of them children.
By 2010 we had been awarded over $1 million in grant funding plus another $450 K of in-kind donations, services and support. We never hired a grant writer. We built if from scratch. If we could do it then, you can absolutely do it now.
