Let me share something personal with you:
Everything you thought you knew about churches and nonprofit leaders getting grant funding? It's about to change — and that’s a good thing.
I'm Angela Myles. Along with my husband Victor, we’re known as The Myles Factor. I was the executive directors of a multiple seven-figure community outreach organization that was born out of a small local church.
But I didn’t always know what I was doing. In fact, I spent years trying and failing to get grant funding.
I didn’t know how to position the organization. I didn’t understand how to run a nonprofit. And I definitely didn’t know how to write proposals that funders could say yes to.
After 15 failed grant attempts, I finally realized: Funders didn’t see us as a church doing Kingdom work. They saw us as a nonprofit without structure, clarity, or strategic solutions.
That was my turning point. I stopped guessing. I stopped chasing big grants without a foundation. I started operating like a real nonprofit with real strategy. And we started winning.
Eventually, I was elected to lead the Office of Homeless Services for the largest county in America. I worked hand-in-hand with elected officials, HUD partners, and community leaders to write a 10-year strategy to end homelessness. Our programs evolved from handing out socks and soup to providing:
